Introducing Communities of Care

I’m so excited to announce a new initiative designed to combine community support and Reiki offerings. Basically, I want to offer create somatic peer support groups through the curation of Reiki 1 classes, as well as offering community clinics for donation-based Reiki for specific communities.

What do I mean by that? I’m teaching a Reiki 1 class for people diagnosed with early stage breast cancer (a road I walked last year!) so that the group can support each other with supportive touch through whatever treatments, surgeries, or challenges may come. I also have a client who asked me to create a Reiki 1 class for end-of-life workers, as Reiki is a very good fit for this type of work, and they can buoy each other through the challenging moments of the work. Lastly, I’ll be offering donation-based Reiki sessions for veterans in collaboration with Oakland Reiki Center and San Francisco Buddhist Center, to introduce the veterans to this safe, drugless, holistic therapy.
 
Over time I will offer classes and clinics for a variety of different groups. I’m also fundraising through the non-profit Reiki Centers of America so that I can create a scholarship fund to support veterans, cancer patients, end-of-life workers, and more. In September 2024, I’ll be hosting a donation-based portrait/headshot fundraiser where you can get a new image of yourself in exchange for a tax-deductible donation.

Reiki Community Clinic for Veterans

Reiki is a Japanese hands-on healing art that helps put the body into a state of deep relaxation. We’re collaborating with the Oakland Reiki Center and SF Buddhist Center to offer donation-based 45 minute sessions to support veterans.

Reiki 1 Class for End of Life Workers

I'm planning a special Reiki 1 class for end-of-life workers in San Francisco. Reiki is a particularly good fit for end-of-life care because it is very gentle and safe, and works on all levels of being (emotional, spiritual, etc). It can be provided as a service to clients at end of life, to support caregivers or patients, as well as a self care practice for refilling your own well. It can also be helpful for people who feel like they drain their own energy, or take on issues of their clients, as Reiki supports energy boundaries and one-way flow of energy through practitioners. This special class will feature a Q&A with a Reiki Master friend of Laura’s who is a death doula and hospital chaplain.

Reiki 1 Class for Stage 0/1 Breast Cancer Patients

I'm planning a special Reiki 1 class for people who have been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. Please fill out the form below if you might be interested in attending! I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year (stage 1a) and had a mastectomy and reconstruction in 2023. It was incredibly helpful having a community of Reiki friends to support me through the pre- and post- surgery anxiety, the healing and rest after, etc. I would like to give that gift of community to other folks going through this.
